Teen Segment 1 April 6th – May 6th, 2026

TEEN SEGMENT 1  PROVISIONS

  1. JD’s Driving School LLC will provide a minimum of 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction and 4 hours of observation time with a certified Michigan Driver Education Instructor.  
  2. Classroom instruction must be a minimum of 3 weeks in length and shall not exceed 2 hours per day.  BTW instruction shall not begin until the student has received a minimum of 4 hours of classroom instruction and must be completed no later than 3 weeks after the classroom instruction has been completed.
  1. JD’s Driving School LLC will conduct the BTW instruction in a dual-controlled automobile that is insured by the Provider to cover each student enrolled in the program.
  2. The Student must be at least 14-years and 8-months of age by the first day of a Segment 1 course. Verification by Birth Certificate is required.

 

TEEN SEGMENT 1 TERMS

  1. The Parent or Legal Guardian agrees to pay the total tuition amount of $500.  The Parent or Legal Guardian agrees to pay non-refundable fee of $50 to sign up for the class. This amount will be credited to the tuition amount.  The remaining amount of $450, must be paid in full 14 days prior to the first day of class in the form of: cash, check, money order or credit card.
  2. The Student should not miss class, if the student misses a class it should be for an illness or emergency with documented proof presented to the instructor.  The student is required to make up the class session misses, there will be one make up day offered at the end of the course. If more than one day of class is missed the student will be dropped from the course with no refund. We do not accommodate for extracurricular activities, select a class accordingly.
  3. A fee of $50.00will be charged if 24 hours advance notice is not given for a behind the wheel instruction.  If a driving appointment is missed, the student must work with the instructor to schedule the makeup drive and/or observation hours.  If late on day of behind the wheel instruction a 10-minute window will be given.  After 10 minutes of being late the student will be considered a no show.
  4. A fee of $50.00 will be charged for each lost or damaged textbook.

REQUIREMENTS TO PASS THE COURSE

The Student will be allowed up to three attempts to pass the State Exam, which requires a score of at least 70%

  1. The Student must complete 24 hours of classroom, 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction, 4 hours of observation and successfully pass the knowledge test.
  2. The student must pass ALL BTW Performance Objectives, per the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act (DEPIA), with a satisfactory or higher grade.

REFUND POLICY  

A full refund, less a $50 processing fee, will be given if the student withdraws 14 days prior to the class start date. After this date, no refund will be given.
